Specials from Close To My Heart

 There are some great specials that will be available until September 30  as long as supplies last.

Memory Lane has both a card and a scrapbook layout.  You can get the items separately or in bundles. This special ends September 30 or until supplies are gone.

A gnome for all seasons - Autumn  is available until September 31 or until supplies are all gone.  There is a cute Gnome girl thin cut.  As the name applies there will be more specials as the year goes by so don't miss out on this one.  There is a card and scrapbook workshop.  You can get bundles or separate items and the stamps sets have thin cuts if you want them.

Seeing how many different ways I can use the same thing

 Most of the time I make a sample of a card that is going to be in my card class.  I have taken lately to just making cards and using different techniques and having fun.

I challenged myself to use the Square Windows z4104

The first stamp set I used was  One of those Days D2178 (this stamp set is no longer available)

In the background I did the new "smooshing" technique with Distress Oxide inks.  I used regular Mist cardstock for the square windows.

The second things I tried was using glitter paper for the square windows but using the National Stamping Month - Say it with style stencil with It's your birthday CC9237.

The last one was with glitter squares but just using Distress Oxide inks for the background.  I splattered some water but it doesn't show us well in the photo.  I used the Distress oxide inks for the coloring of the flowers and the sentiment.  The stamp set is Floral notes Z7071

It really makes the same square windows look very different.  Let me know if you are challenging yourself to do different things with your stamp sets in card making. 

Playing around with new things.

 Close To My Heart has come out with colored pencils that are wax-based, and packed with pigment core. They come in Bright and Vivid Z7039, Perfect Portrait Z7037 and Natural Landscape Z7038.  You can get them individually for $6.95 plus tax and shipping or in a bundle Z5431 for $20.85 plus tax and shipping. 

I also wanted to play with the stencils from the National Stamping Month - Say it with Style.

I had some left over pieces and put together these cards. The top birthday card was done with the pencils.  They blend easily.  I also learned that when I used the Shimmer Brush, it does pick up the color you have used.  On the one with the chickees, the far left one has some green on his head. 

With the bottom 2 I used CTMH ink for the stencils.  The top one is the National Stamping Month new one and the gnomes had an older one.  

I has learned that the Tim Holtz website had a mat that was sticky on both sides so that you don't have to hold the ink pad when you are getting the ink on a brush.  I also learned that I could use a Pampered Chef silicone hot pad and it works well.  Many of the stencils have small intricate cuttings and I was having difficulty getting a clean image.  While working on ceramic tile coasters, as well as @cdtcreatives, I found that Pixie spray works really great.
