June Card classes

I am trying something different this month.  Many of the cards will have backgrounds with Distress Dioxide Inks.

The first one is what ever color you want with a full card black cardstock front.

This next set is background dioxide inks and it has water spray on it for a slightly different texture.  You can choose from holographic paper to glitter paper.  There are 4 different stamp sets you can choose from to have on the card.  You can also stamp some of the images inside and choose an inside sentiment as well.  Don't forget you can stamp on the envelopes too.

Being so close to July 4th, I decided we would still have time to do a patriotic card to send.  This is a shaker star card.

The last card is from the Strawberry mice set and uses splatter for the background.  There are other mice you can choose from as well as different sayings.

If you are interested in coming to classes, let me know.  Have a scrapping good day.

Cards and more cards with pages!

There are 2 ways to make cards.  One is with the Workshop Your Way.  This Scrapbooking Kit will make 3 2-page layouts plus the opportunity to make 6-12 cards depending on the kit.

The Workshop Your Way doesn't use stamps or inks. When you cut out your scrapbooking pages, you have the options to cut out the pieces that you can make cards.  You will need to add the stamps, sometimes with thin cuts, inks, cards and envelopes and a few other things.  You can also come to my house and use what I have.

Here is the new Workshop Your Way called Fresh Air.

These are the 3 pages that you can make from the Workshop Your Way.  There is always "left overs" and from that I made the following 2 pages.
Below are 3 of the 4 cards you can make from this set.

Some of the papers have their own special Workshop Your Way that is just for cardmaking.  You make 6 of 2 different designs. You get a set of papers, a stamp set and just need the inks to complete the project.  Here are the 2 cards from Fresh Air.

You have some great designs and can get the paper packets and cardstock to make more or use the designs in new ways.  Look over what is available and start having fun with cards and pages.

Where do you put your cards?

I have had several systems to share and save the cards I make.  This Christmas, I came across a Sterlite box that was great.  It was wide enough and tall enough and had a locked top.  I have gone through several versions of card dividers.  What you can do most easily is cut 12 x 12 paper into 4 6x6 size squares.  You can get the 3M sticky tabs and mark your dividers.  On one card you can stamp the 12 months so you can write the Anniversaries and Birthdays.  It is in front so you can look through the box and see if there is anything that month. With this system in place, you can see if you are low on a certain type of card and work ahead.  I hope you can find this as fun and easy and I did.

Seasonal Expression Cards

No matter what kind of project you are doing, there will be some paper left over.  I love the Workshop Your Way as they incorporate the scrapbooking pages and cards in the same project.  If you don't want to do the cards, then you have paper for other pages.  Here are the cards from the Workshop Your Way: Little Dreamer, Prickely Pear and No Worries.

Little Dreamer: You make 9 cards, 3 of each design.  All the cards that come with the Workshop Your Way, use the Stamp sets and thin cuts along with ink and inks.  (The scrapbook projects are just cut and paste.) The Little Dreamer - Cardmaking Stamp and Thin cut is Z3335.  You can find the Workshop Your Way at http://www.closetomyheart.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9932&ci=8409 On that Website, you can find the other things that coordinate with the projects like the stamp set with thin cuts.

Prickly Pear has 12 cards - 3 designs - 4 each.  You can find the paper and all coordinating things at: http://www.closetomyheart.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9934&ci=8458 the Prickly Pear Cardmaking stamp and Thin cuts is Z3332
No Worries Workshop Your Way makes 6 cards, 2 of each designs.  You can find it at: http://www.closetomyheart.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9933&ci=8456  the No Worries Cardmaking Stamp + thin Cuts is Z3337.

Each of the paper packets have the stamp set and thin cuts.  You can just get the stamp set but it is much easier to have the thin cuts.  Each paper packet also has a scrapbooking stamp set and thin cuts.  These are usually slightly larger for the 12 x 12 pages.  Think about the fun you will have making 3 - 2 12x12 layouts and cards all in about 3 hours!  Look over the packets and get in touch with me to come and get your projects going.  Remember that it takes 1 - 2 weeks advance notice so that all your supplies can be ordered and be here.

Changing plans

I had a card buffet worked out with lots of Valentine's Day cards and because of the winter weather it didn't happen.  I needed some thank you cards and decided to see what I could do with the cards I had already designed.  It worked out well.  People coming in the future will have options on how to adapt the cards for the needs they have be it thank you, birthday or thinking of you.  The ones on the left were the origanal ones and the ones on the right are the adapted ones.  It gives you ideas to make changes when needed.

Introductory 8 card workshop

I am offering an Introductory 8 card workshop.  It features 4 styles and you do 2 of each style.  These 4 cards are from Make if From Your Heart Vol 2.  This How To Program has both scrapbook pages and card sketches that are just super.  You can find it on my website under Shop and then How To Programs.
Here are the 4 styles:
This is Card 2.  There are many ways you can make this card fit any of your needs and occasions.

Card 2a - this has the banner from Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge Artiste and the circles are cut from Art Philosophy.  The stamps are C1619 So Many Smiles and B1449 Oodles of Doodles.

Card 2b used D1627 Your Own Kind of Wonderful and the ShinHan markers to color the butterflies.

This is Card 3.  Again this style can be changed to use so many different techniques.

Card 3a uses D1663 Floral Banners.  I cut this banner as the stamp set has a 2 step banner and changed the square to a triangle.

This is Card 3b. The Close To My Heart Artiste Cartridge has the banner.  You may not see it but 3 of the little butterflies have Itty Bitty sparkles on their antenna.  Stamps sets: D1646 Finding the Words (this is such a versitile stamp for all occasions) D1663 Floral Banners

This is the blank Card 4.   You can actually emboss on the white card if you like for a background texture look.

This is 4a.  It can be for anyone.  I have shown the 3 Princesses below the card.  I used the ShinHan markers again as well as a background heart stamp from D1668 Charming Cascade.  The other stamps used or could be used: C1631 Birthday Princess, A1180 Safari Ballet, and B1486 Darling Dinos.

This is Card 4b.  the banner comes from the CTMH Cricut cartridge Artistry and uses D1680 Life is Sweet that comes with the Artistry cartridge set.  You can use a black marker to help set off the card.

This is Card 1.

This is Card 1a.  It uses Washi tape.  You could also use Shimmer Trim.  The stampsets used are: A1170 Doodle Design.  You can put a number of sayings on the inside of the circle.  M1053 Sweeter with you or M1123 Feel Better.  I used the embossing folder of hearts using sand paper to see the hearts.  I would either use a smaller design or place the paper differently in the embossing folder because you really can't see the hearts well.

This is Card 1b.  I used the ShinHan markers again and have offset the square.  I used Z2013 silver Assortment sequins but you could also use the gems.

On all the cards I used The thin 3D foam tape.  I don't make things "stand out" too much because it requires special postage to be added otherwise your card will be chewed up in the post office machines.  If you are in doubt, take a card in an envelope to your local post office.  They have a slot that is about 1/4 inch and if the card fits through it, it will go well.  If not, you need to add postage to your card before mailing.

Technique of the week - getting designs

Where do you get your ideas to make things?  You can shop on my website to get Workshop on the Go's.  These are Close To My Heart kits that give you the paper, stamp, directions and "bling" to make pages or cards.  You can get the How To Program books.  Here you have the directions for pages or cards.  You can take what ever paper and bling you have and put things together.   It shows a basic design and then some variations that you can do.

You can of course do what people call "scrap-lift" and get ideas from the Idea books or other websites.  You can also just use your imagination!   I decided rather than do a few designs for the vendor fair, to try and do as many designs as I could with the paper.

I tried making some of the cards from the Artfully Sent Cricut collection.
I had the Confetti Wishes paper.  It was fun to see how different the paper looks with different designs.  After doing some of the Cricut cards, I tried doing some different designs with the same paper with stamps.
I also tried to use the same design with different paper for the theme of Father's day.
I did wet embossing on the typewriter and just regular ink on the other cards.  Some of the stamp sets I used were new and some were old.  You can find the new products on the website.  The new stamp sets are all together.  You will always be able to buy those stamps that match with the Cricut cartridges. The older products can be found at While Supplies Last.   Remember that for the month of April, the Deal of the Day will give you new and old products in a grab bag.  The offer changes every day at 3pm.

Challenge yourself by getting out certain paper or a certain stamp or a certain design and see where it leads you.  Look through some old Idea books. I used to keep the old cards I had made.  I used these for ideas on new designs but have instead started taking photos of the cards and keeping the photos on file.  I also have made sketches on graph paper and keep them in a notebook.  I look through some of my old Workshop on the Go's and How To Programs and have fun coming up with new ideas.  There are many places to look for designs.  You need to develop a system so when you are going to do a project, you will have some place to go to get ideas.  If you don't, you will spend most of your time thinking up ideas instead of working on projects.  It is good to always look for designs as you don't know when an idea will hit you!  Happy scrapping!
