Year Album start using Prickly Pear Paper

I thought it might be fun to have a “page a month” for the year 2017.  To do this I needed some special things that Close to My Heart has to offer.  I know I use my camera a lot.  I found out that I had to have special layouts for special occasions like birthday parties and first time First grade concerts on stage.  

In our Annual Catalog on pages 12 and 13 you will find these tools.

1. There are Memory Protectors Pocket Plus pages.   This is half pages with 4x6 and 3x4 photos both landscape and portrait.  This allows you to get a few more photos without having to do more pages.

2. There are Memory Protectors Flip Flaps.    These come in 2x2, 3x3, 3x4, 4x4, 4x6, 5x7 and 6x12 sizes.  I used the 4x4, 4x6 and 6x12.  This allows you to add in multiples of 2 for photos on the page.  It is really something how many extra photos you can add!  The other advantage of the Flip Flaps is that you can put the journaling underneath so that someone who just wants to see the photos isn’t bogged down with your journaling stories and yet there are there to help you remember that day. 

3. Memory Protector pages are great quality.  The 6x12 size Flip Flap goes the whole length of the page protector.  It is hefty enough so that the 12x12 doesn’t bend under the weight.   The 6x12 Flip Flap really adds a page to that page.  It gives you more photo layout room.

4. There are also pocket pages which I haven’t used yet but may put at the end of the year album.  There are various designs of 3x4 and 4x6 sizes on the page.  You can do journaling or use the pocket cards that come with the paper packets in the Seasonal Expression catalog.  

I am only to April with this book.  I used the Prickly Pear Paper Packet and the Prickly Pear Coordination Cardstock.  I will probably need 2 more paper sets to finish the year out but I will be able to have the whole year in one album and still have lots and lots of photos.  I don’t know if I will keep with this paper set or move to another one.  Keep watch at the site to find out.

Layout 2 - You will notice every other page is just 2 pages.  It is easier to have the 6x12 Flip Flap on one page rather than both sizes of the page protector.  The page protector will hold it but it becomes confusing as to which page it belongs to.

Left and Right Layout 5 - In this case I closed the Flip Flap on the right to show you that the page size is really the 12x12 of the album.  When you use the Flip Flaps, you need to have them "flap" so that when you open the page they hang down.  Close to my Heart has new 4x6 Flip Flaps that can be on the side or on the top so that it easier to turn the pages.

Left and right Layout 7.  The thing about Flip Flaps is that you need to have the page protectors ready and if you put the smaller ones on the pages, you need to know that the page protectors are in the right order when you start.  You really can't take them off once they are on the page.  

Back page - You can either have a 2 page layout here and keep going with the Flip Flaps or have a one page layout and start the next part with Flip Flaps.  I am enjoying doing this album.  Join me in creating this!

The following is a list of things I am willing to do in my home or in yours.  The exception is the Open Crop as all my things don't fit in my car!  You need a 2 week lead time so that materials can be ordered.

Simple projects @ 1 hour

1.     2 – 12x12 page layouts  $6

You cut the paper and adhere pieces.  Directions included as well as Cricut and journaling shapes.  Bring photos 2 – 6x4 portrait, 1 – 4x6 landscape and optional 2 – 3x3.

2.     Make 2 cards 1 Happy Birthday and 1 Thank you   $4

Paper is cut and you stamp and adhere pieces.

3.  Tool Techniques.  How to do these techniques: 3 from the list $5 (also part of the Open Crop)

- ruler/stitch guide  -embossing powders – Shin Han Touch Twin alcohol markers – Watercolor

5.Learn how to use the Cricut Explore Air $6 -

Use Design Space online and Ipad Cricut Design and make 2 cards and 1 12x12 page from samples you learn to make.  We will look at the CTMH Flower market, Artistry and Artbooking Cricut cartridges.

6. Card buffet $15 for up to 8 cards additional cards $2

Paper precut and bundled.  Variety of cards: happy birthday, thinking of you, sympathy, friendship etc.

7. Instalife Album #Life $45

Bring about 80 4x5 photos and go home with a 20 page 4x4 album

Annual pg 80-81 Choose your Album: Blue jean or Blush, choose Hello Gorgeous or Enjoy choose overlays 2 4x4 and 4 2x2.  Go home with a complete book.

8. Kids Projects

1 – 3x3 photo album $5 – bring 19 photos.  Paper is pre-cut.

2. 5x8 booklet $10  10 pages booklet Pre-cut paper to choose to decorate pages.  Bling and Cricut shapes to choose from as well.  Under 10 years need parent present. 

9. Everyday life finished album $40 – Annual pg 82-83

Project include album, a variety of 10 memory protectors, 30 pages punched, choose embellishment as well as using precut paper to adhere a few pages.  Bring @40 4x6 photos to use and to cut.  Possible 5x7 photos.

10. Barb’s design Flip Flap pages $20

You will get 2 12x12 memory protectors and 2 6x12 flip flaps.  You can choose either 4 – 4x6 and 4 – 4x4 or 1 of each flip flap (see page 12 annual)  You cut your own paper and choose your own paper packet from the Seasonal Expression catalog.

11. Barb’s design of 20 pages 12x12 album with front page $55

You will be using Fundamental Wimsey paper (see Annual pg 14-17) You will cut your own paper and follow the design. 

12. Year Calendar $40

You will make 12 – 12x12 pages.  You will stamp on the months and write the dates.  Cricuted images available.  You will use 4 patterns 3 times for the 12 pages. 

13. Workshop Your Way – Scrapbooking (choose from 4 choices in Seasonal Expressions)

$31 makes 6 – 2 12x12 page layouts

Add $5 to make 9 cards

Add $5 for memory protectors for the 6 pages and 2 – ½ page protectors.

You bring your own paper or order for that day ahead of time.  You get to use all my machines and be instructed on their use.  Patterns are available.  You will learn techniques. 

10 – 12 will be focus on cards and 1-3 will be focus on scrapbooking but you can consentrate on either cards or scrapbooking all day.  Light lunch.

Live Beautifully - Cut Above Layout Kit

Have you ever wanted to make pages easily and then just be ready with the photos and be done? May is National Scrapbooking Month and to honor that, Close To My Heart has this great paper called Live Beautifully.  Close To My Heart has a great way for beginners and people who want " fast and done great" to make pages.  it is called "Cut Above".  The following 5 - 2 page layouts I put together in less than an hour.  The Memory protectors pages come with it, so when you are done, you are ready to put on 11- 4x6 landscape and 6 - 4x6 portrait photos. It is easy to do all by yourself or we can get together and get it done!

Spring is here and Whimsy can give you the best 20 album around

I have put together a 20 - 2 page layout album with a front page.  I used the Whimsy Fundamental packet and 1/2 combo of Whimsy plus the Spring time compliments.  I also used gold foil tape.  if you are interested in making this album, email me revskell@gmail.com.

I used the Pocket Cards from the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent cartridge.  these are great for decoration and for use in journaling.  I used some of the new thin cut stamp sets and cuts as well as some older stamps taht are still my favorite.  Spring has such wonderful colors but there is room for all sort so photos and children and flowers.  

Embellished 5 - 2 page layout

Once you have your pages, you need to embellish and "bling" them.  I used the Close To My Heart Cricut cartridges - a bit of all of them:

This is Layout 1.  I was going to change a few things but thought I would talk about how what you see and what you get isn't always the same thing.  I thought since the base page was so busy, I would keep in the same color scheme for the flower.  The thing is the flower got lost on the Tangerine paper.  I will probably try and do some thing different with the flowers before I am finally done.

This is Layout 2.  The "film strip" on the right side of the page may be used for small photos or I will put paper behind and use for journaling.  It will depend on the photos I put with it.  On the left hand side the "Note" is for journaling already so my first thought is to have small photos in the "film strip".

This is Layout 3.  I changed the 4x4 photo and the journaling page on the left hand side because the journaling page didn't show up on the words.  I might edge the white paper with Raspberry ink.  I also think I might use some 2x2 photos in the small green squares.  Close To My Heart also has 2x2 flip flaps which I might use as well as the 4x4 and 4x6 flip flaps.  We now have 4x6 flip flaps that are for landscape and portrait.

This is Layout 4.  It doesn't show up on the photo too well but I wrote "Happy Birthday ..." all around the edges of the paper and the balloons.  Our Granddaughter has a birthday in April.  I know we will have more photos so I will plan to use flip flaps on this page.

This is Layout 5.  You can also use the corner rounder on each of the squares to give it a different feel.

I was working on getting a layout done when my sister came over.  I used the new Close To My Heart Adventure fundamental paper and she used an old Close To My Heart Expedition paper and she still had the stickers that went with it.  I have posted both here, mine first and then hers.

I used 10 pages for base pages and cut 8.  There are 24 in the Fundamental packets so there were extra paper left which is used for Cricuting of for photo mats.  You can use the Combo packet for Adventure if you wanted plain cardstock.  

I am going to design an album retreat using this same Fundamental paper and plain paper and the new sticker compliments.  That will be posted next week.
